Will codicils

It's a good idea to review your will every five years or if there is a major change in your life, for example you get separated or divorced, you get married (this automatically makes your current will null and void), have a child, move house or if one of your named executors dies.

It's not always necessary to make an entirely new will. However, you can't simply amend an existing will because it's already been signed and witnessed.

The only way you can make a change to your existing will is by creating an official alteration document, known as a codicil.

A codicil must be drafted properly and be executed (ie signed and witnessed) in the same way as your will. It's then stored with the will. There's no limit on how many codicils can be added to a will.

As an experienced will writer, I can help with drafting and arranging execution of your will codicil. Costs start at just £25 for a simple amendment.
