Will storage

You've made your will and it's been properly signed and witnessed. Now what do you do about storage? You can keep it in your home, but what happens in the case of a fire? What if you move home or have a clear out and the will gets lost or mislaid? In any event, can you be sure your executors will be able easily to locate the will after your death?

There's a simple answer to the problem of storing your will safely and securely.

The National Will Archive is one of the UK's largest dedicated storage facilities for wills, lasting power of attorneys (LPAs) and other legal documents. The Archive has over 100,000 legal documents in its secure storage facility and even more on its database.

Being able to locate your Will is the first job for your executors. Storing it at the National Will Archive will make the job much more simple and relieve stress and worry for your loved ones at a difficult time.

As a Member of the Society of Will Writers, I can offer you exclusive access to the National Will Archive. Your will is checked, scanned and stored securely until it's needed or you replace it with a new one. You'll receive a certificate of storage and handy credit-card-style registration cards to give to your executors.

Storing your will at the National Will Archive costs £35 per year per person or per couple (at the same address).
